Energy Web Token (EWT) serves as the native utility token for the Energy Web decentralised technology platform, which comprises two main layers: the public nominated proof-of-stake blockchain, Energy Web X, and the Verified Compute Cloud for off-chain computation. EWT operates as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, facilitating settlement and custody, while a validator-governed bridge connects Ethereum to the Energy Web X network.
The Energy Web Chain, where EWT was initially launched in June 2019, is still functional for archival purposes. The total supply of EWT is preserved across both networks, maintaining its utility. EWT has been registered with the European Securities and Markets Authority as of November 2025 to comply with MiCA regulations.
Cryptocurrency carries risk. Every project listed on this site, regardless of its score, operates in a volatile and largely unregulated market. Tokens can lose most or all of their value. A high score reflects lower structural risk based on the data we can measure. It does not mean a project is safe, that the price will hold, or that losses are unlikely. Always research independently and never commit money you cannot afford to lose.
