Project Safety Score: 86%
Updated 3 minutes agoChainlink is a decentralized oracle network that connects smart contracts with external data, addressing the limitations of blockchains in accessing real-world information. The platform utilizes a network of nodes that fetch, validate, and deliver data, allowing smart contracts to interact with verified information. Its services include Data Feeds for asset prices, cross-chain token transfers and messaging, smart contract automation, and asset collateralization verification.
Launched in 2017 by co-founders Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis, with Ari Juels contributing to the white paper, Chainlink raised $32 million during its initial coin offering. The LINK token serves as the native asset for compensating node operators, funding subscriptions, and incentivizing network security through staking. Node operators are required to stake LINK, which may be subjected to penalties if inaccurate data is supplied.
Cryptocurrency carries risk. Every project listed on this site, regardless of its score, operates in a volatile and largely unregulated market. Tokens can lose most or all of their value. A high score reflects lower structural risk based on the data we can measure. It does not mean a project is safe, that the price will hold, or that losses are unlikely. Always research independently and never commit money you cannot afford to lose.
Economic design score 90 out of 100.
Chainlink demonstrates a robust economic structure with a defined supply cap of 1 billion tokens, ensuring a clear limit on future inflation. A circulating supply of 73% indicates a healthy proportion of tokens actively traded, promoting market stability. Such a design fosters confidence in the asset's potential, making it attractive to investors.
Liquidity and market dynamics score 96 out of 100.
The liquidity market for Chainlink is highly impressive, with a volume-to-market capitalization ratio of 2.62%. A substantial 24-hour trading volume of over $174 million enhances its liquidity depth, ensuring that transactions can occur smoothly. Additionally, Chainlink's presence on 69 exchanges, with a significant majority rated positively, reflects strong accessibility and user interest.
Team credibility score 83 out of 100.
Chainlink's team credibility is solid, benefiting from over 4 years of asset history. The public identification of the team enhances trust, complemented by a high-quality whitepaper and strong GitHub activity. However, there is one recorded audit, which could be an area for improvement in assuring users of security.
Social and behavioral score 74 out of 100.
Chainlink's social metrics indicate a moderate level of community engagement. While key social accounts are verified, follower data is limited, impacting a full assessment of audience reach. Sentiment is largely positive, with 75% of commentary being favorable, which is a strong indicator of community support and interest in the project.
Contract mechanics score 77 out of 100.
Chainlink's smart contract mechanics show a mix of strengths and concerns. The contract is verified and open source, showcasing transparency and security. However, the mintable nature and the ability for the owner to change balances raise some risks. Possible limitations from hidden functions and an upgradable proxy pattern may warrant vigilance from stakeholders.
Holder distribution score 98 out of 100.
The distribution of holders in Chainlink is highly favorable, with only 32.8% of tokens held by the top 10 wallets, ensuring a more decentralized ownership. Moreover, 53.4% of tokens are distributed among the top 50 wallets, presenting a broadly held asset. The total number of holders exceeds 870,000, indicating widespread adoption and confidence among investors.
Inherent risks remain in the cryptocurrency space, particularly for Chainlink. Despite its strong scores and overall positive outlook, potential investors should be aware of the inherent volatility, the ability for contract ownership to change balances, and governance decisions that could impact the asset's future. Always conduct thorough research and consider risks when investing in cryptocurrencies.
