Cartesi, founded in 2018, enables developers to create appchain rollups using various programming languages while leveraging the security of Ethereum. Its technical architecture includes components such as Cartesi Rollups, which provide a customizable execution environment, and the Cartesi Machine, a RISC-V-based virtual machine that allows for complex computations within a Linux operating system framework. Cartesi’s infrastructure aims to facilitate the development of decentralized applications by utilizing established software systems and libraries.

The native token, CTSI, serves multiple functions within the ecosystem. It allows holders to participate in governance and earn rewards through staking. Additionally, the Validator Marketplace utilizes CTSI for incentivizing validators, enabling them to stake tokens, delegate to experienced validators, and invest in the growth of decentralized applications. This model aims to align the token’s value with the successful deployment and usage of dApps on the Cartesi platform.
