BitCore is a UTXO fork of Bitcoin, launched on April 24, 2017, designed to enhance scalability and reduce blockchain size. Utilizing Bitcoin's source code, it introduces faster block timings and aims to maintain ASIC resistance in mining. The initial distribution involved a snapshot of Bitcoin transactions, creating 5 million transactions to fill public addresses linked to holders of 0.01 BTC or more, with a funding ratio set at 0.5 BTX to 1.0 BTC.
The cryptocurrency employs the MEGA-BTX consensus algorithm, promoting decentralized mining opportunities. It features 10 MB Segwit-enabled blocks, capable of processing up to 17.6 billion transactions annually. BitCore offers the ability for users to engage in mining through both Proof of Work and Masternodes, positioning itself as a multifaceted platform within the crypto community.
