Auroracoin is a cryptocurrency launched in February 2014, aiming to serve as an alternative to the Icelandic krona. It is 50% premined, and an airdrop plan will distribute the coins free-of-charge to approximately 330,000 citizens of Iceland, with each citizen receiving 31.8 auroracoins starting from March 25, 2014.
The project was created by an individual using the pseudonym Baldur Friggjar Odinsson and is based on the technical architecture of Litecoin. Auroracoin seeks to address the limitations and devaluation issues of the Icelandic krona, which has faced government restrictions and significant declines in value since 1960.
Risk Report
Cryptocurrency carries risk. Every project listed on this site, regardless of its score, operates in a volatile and largely unregulated market. Tokens can lose most or all of their value. A high score reflects lower structural risk based on the data we can measure. It does not mean a project is safe, that the price will hold, or that losses are unlikely. Always research independently and never commit money you cannot afford to lose.
