What is zkRune?

zkRune is a tool designed for creating Zero-Knowledge Proofs, allowing users to demonstrate specific facts without disclosing sensitive information. It supports applications such as age verification, balance proofs, anonymous voting, private membership verification, and range proofs. The technology is based on Groth16 zk-SNARKs, which are utilized in several prominent blockchain systems, and is aimed at simplifying the process of generating privacy-preserving proofs through a user-friendly visual circuit builder.

The platform operates entirely client-side, ensuring that all cryptographic processes are conducted within the user's browser, with no data leaving the device. It requires no prior setup, such as wallets or accounts, and can function offline as a Progressive Web App. zkRune is also open source, providing transparency and auditability in its code. It is built for integration within the Zcash ecosystem.
