What is Optimism?

Optimism is a network of chains known as the Superchain, functioning on the open-source OP Stack. The OP Mainnet is the first of these chains, with others like Base, Unichain, Ink, and World Chain also utilizing the OP Stack framework. This architecture aims to facilitate Ethereum Layer 2 activities.

Each chain in the Superchain adheres to a standardized revenue-sharing model, contributing either 2.5% of total chain revenue or 15% of on-chain profit back to Optimism. Governance is managed by OP holders who influence protocol upgrades and funding decisions. This structure is intended to create a sustainable ecosystem for fast and cost-effective transactions on Ethereum.
