What is Monad?

Monad is a Layer 1 blockchain platform founded in 2023 that supports a throughput of 10,000 transactions per second with minimal fees. Its architecture enables parallel execution of transactions rather than the sequential processing typical of traditional blockchains. This design separates the agreement and execution phases, allowing for efficient consensus while maintaining system accuracy.

Monad is fully EVM compatible, enabling Ethereum applications to operate without modifications. The platform can be accessed through standard wallets like MetaMask. Monad has raised approximately 244 million dollars in funding, including a 19 million dollar seed round in February 2023 led by Dragonfly Capital and a 225 million dollar Series A round in April 2024 led by Paradigm at a valuation of 3 billion dollars. Other investors include Electric Capital, Greenoaks, and Coinbase Ventures.
