What is Mochi?

Mochi is a project launched in August 2023 on the Base network, inspired by a pet cat of Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong. The project aims to support Base and Coinbase's goal of onboarding new users to on-chain platforms and has secured a grant from Coinbase for its initiatives.

The design of Mochi comes from artist Antoine Mingo, known for Pudgy Penguins, and has gained significant visibility through billions of GIF views and a following on social media. Mochi targets retail investors and seeks to become a widely recognized intellectual property on Base, aligning with projected growth in retail investment in 2025 facilitated by Coinbase and Base's efforts.
