What is MATIC (migrated to POL)?

Polygon, originally known as Matic Network, was founded to enhance Ethereum's scalability and infrastructure. Its primary technical framework is the Polygon SDK, designed to facilitate the development of various application types, including Optimistic Rollup and ZK Rollup chains, as well as standalone chains.

This platform aims to create a multi-chain environment, similar to Polkadot and Cosmos, while leveraging Ethereum's security and ecosystem. Polygon’s existing Plasma-POS chain will remain unchanged, with ongoing enhancements to support a broader range of developer needs. The native token, MATIC, is intended to secure the platform and participate in governance.
