What is KlimaDAO [OLD]?

KlimaDAO, founded in 2021 by contributors from three distinct organizations, aims to establish a transparent digital carbon market to enhance climate finance globally. The initiative has facilitated over $4 billion in carbon credit trades in 2022, while its treasury assets exceeded $100 million. The project combines expertise in carbon markets and technology to address inefficiencies present in the traditional voluntary carbon market.

The KlimaDAO infrastructure supports various platforms, including Carbonmark, and collaborates with several organizations such as Polygon and Circle. By allowing both individuals and businesses to offset their carbon footprints, KlimaDAO has attracted over 100,000 KLIMA token holders and more than 50 contributors. In March 2023, Carbonmark was introduced as a platform for acquiring, trading, and retiring digital carbon credits, enabling institutional access to carbon credits through KlimaDAO's framework.
