What is Kaspa?

Kaspa was launched in November 2021 and is managed entirely by its community, featuring no pre-mine or pre-sale components. The project utilizes a proof-of-work consensus mechanism and employs the BlockDAG protocol known as GHOSTDAG, positioning itself as a potential sequencer for both traditional finance and decentralized crypto markets.

The network prioritizes hard money principles and emphasizes security, claiming to achieve significant market hashrate protection with a fifty percent security threshold. Kaspa’s architecture supports rapid block generation, allowing for faster block speeds than other proof-of-work or proof-of-stake networks. It also facilitates smart contract development through based-rollups and incorporates various features such as Reachability for querying the DAG's topology and block data pruning, which may ease future layer two implementations.
