What is eCash?

eCash (XEC) is a Layer-1 digital cash network created by Bitcoin ABC on November 15, 2020. It incorporates a hybrid consensus mechanism combining Nakamoto and Avalanche, enhancing its proof-of-work (PoW) architecture to improve security and functionality.

The project aims for high transaction throughput and efficient payment processing, targeting scalability of over 5,000,000 transactions per second. Additionally, it focuses on achieving transaction finality within three seconds and facilitating protocol extensions through fork-free upgrades, promoting iterative development.
