What is Cudos?

Cudos is a decentralized compute network founded by Mathew Hawkins, who previously founded C4L, a data center, cloud, and network infrastructure provider. The project is built on the Cosmos blockchain and uses the Tendermint protocol for secure BFT consensus, with WebAssembly (Wasm) smart contract compatibility. It describes interoperability via Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) and an architecture intended to connect on-chain contracts with off-chain compute resources, including support for staking to receive blockchain and cloud workloads.

The Cudos token (CUDOS) is described as being used for transaction payments, staking, and network governance. The network uses a Byzantine Fault Tolerant Bonded Proof of Stake mechanism within the Cosmos SDK, including staking, slashing, and governance modules, with a stated 95% minimum uptime target. Total supply is capped at 10 billion CUDOS, released over a 10-year period starting January 11, 2021, with allocations including ecosystem and community development, reserves, team, advisors, and presale token holders.
