What is Casper Network?

Casper Network is a Proof-of-Stake Layer-1 blockchain that launched its mainnet in March 2021. It aims to bring real-world assets on-chain and supports infrastructure for tokenized assets, featuring upgradable smart contracts, protocol-level access control, and native support for various virtual machines (VMs). The network operates on Zug Consensus, which offers instant finality, important for financial transactions and regulated assets.

Casper is designed to accommodate applications with different technical requirements running in parallel on the same chain, eliminating the need for rollups or Layer-2 solutions. It supports a developer-friendly environment, enabling the use of programming languages such as Rust, WebAssembly (WASM), JavaScript, Python, and Go.
