What is Algorand?

Algorand is a decentralized digital currency and smart contract platform founded in 2017 by Silvio Micali. It employs a variation of Proof-of-Stake known as Pure PoS to secure its network and achieve consensus for block production. The platform supports the development of decentralized applications using widely used programming languages, including Python.
